VOLUNTEER BENEFITS
As a Kingwood Volunteer you will be eligible for many benefits such as free admission, complimentary workshops, discounts, an annual “Thank You” luncheon, as well as various other volunteer events throughout the year. Volunteer benefits are based on hours of service and change depending on the level of service one has attained.

Garden Volunteer
Garden volunteers play a special role in keeping the gardens beautiful year-round. This opportunity offers a fun way to get outdoors and work alongside other volunteers. A staff gardener will provide training and appropriate tools and equipment. Activities will include weeding, dead heading, planting, and mulching. Requires physical activity that can include bending, pulling, kneeling, and lifting.
On a designated day each week focused on a specific garden area, typically 8-11 AM, includes a break
Kingwood Hall Host/Hostess
As a Kingwood Hall host/hostess, you will welcome guests and provide general information about Kingwood and its history. This is a seated position in the foyer of Kingwood Hall. Training materials will be provided along with opportunities to shadow another volunteer before you begin hosting on your own.
Morning and afternoon shifts available daily, February through October
Office Assistant
Office assistants help complete clerical projects like mailing and sorting. This is a seated position that often requires folding, cutting, and stuffing/stamping envelopes. A Kingwood team member will provide instruction and support.

Special Events
Volunteers contribute to the success of Kingwood’s many signature events throughout the year. These roles can vary greatly from event to event. Explanations of responsibilties will be provided before the event to help you select from available roles.

Tour Guides
If you enjoy history and interacting with the public, consider becoming a volunteer docent! Lead groups of visitors through informative tours of the gardens and Kingwood Hall. Tours typically last one hour. You will tour with an experienced docent until you are comfortable leading a tour on your own. Training and a tour guide manual are provided.

Weddings
Help our guests have the perfect special day as a wedding liason! In this role, you will greet guests and help ensure an uninterrupted wedding ceremony. Seating will be provided.
Typically on weekends, scheduled in advance
As a wedding golf cart driver, you’ll provide transportation for the wedding party and guests to various locations as needed. This is a fun opportunity for volunteers who can maintain guest safety standards and enjoy engaging with the public. You will receive thorough training to confirm you are comfortable and proficient with the golf cart.

About the Kingwood Volunteer Program
There are jobs available for anyone, even those who have limitations in mobility, time, or gardening expertise! You will work closely with a staff member who leads the effort, assigns duties, and provides guidance and expertise. Most jobs are typically done on a weekly schedule.
