Facilities and Maintenance Assistant

Job Overview: The Facilities and Maintenance Assistant ensures Kingwood’s physical plant, infrastructure, and other systems associated with a transformative guest experience are in good working order. The Assistant supports the daily and special project operational priorities of the Facilities and Maintenance Department and Kingwood Center Gardens as a whole.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on Kingwood’s various building and grounds infrastructure systems and features
  • Complete repairs on KCG’s various building and grounds features as needed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs to KCG’s fleet and machinery
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop
  • Assist in maintaining the necessary inventory of tools and parts sufficient to complete routine operational tasks
  • Ensures a safe working environment while completing work on campus and that all safety protocols are followed
  • Participate in KCG’s snow removal operations during snow events
  • Assist with Seasonal Show and temporary exhibit fabrication, installation, and removal as needed
  • Assist with event set up and take down as required
  • Serve as extra staff during peak attendance public events or shows as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Monday through Friday schedule with some evenings and weekends required
  • Willing to serve in an off-hour, on-call rotation as needed
  • Must be physically fit, able to occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions year-round
  • Prolonged periods of continuous standing, sitting, or walking along with occasional stooping, bending, reaching, crouching, and working in confined spaces
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with staff and the public
  • Ability to collaborate with persons of all ages, diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities including staff, guests, and volunteers
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, and diagnostic skills
  • Working understanding of Microsoft Office, including Access, Outlook preferred

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma and/or at least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in physical plant maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or construction preferred
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must pass a drug test
