Event Assistant - Visitor Services Department

Dedicated in 1953, Kingwood Center Gardens is a cultural and educational center with special emphasis on ornamental horticulture and gardening. The Kingwood mission is “to create beautiful gardens for enjoyment, education, and inspiration”.


This position reports to the Event Coordinator and will specialize in working with Kingwood events from small to large. The assistant will also aid in formulating new ideas, showcasing venues, and participating in Kingwood special events. This position will work closely with other departments of Kingwood on a wide range of event related tasks. Typical schedule for this position would vary and primarily run April through October, 20 hours per week, including weekends.


  • Act as staff liaison at weekend weddings / Supervise ceremony rehearsals
  • Assist clients with scheduled photo shoots as indicated by Event Coordinator
  • Work with vendors to assure logistics of set up and tear down are according to rental agreements
  • Meet with potential couples for weddings or event tours as needed
  • Meet with wedding rental clients for final walkthroughs
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and courteously with visitors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to relate to persons of all ages, diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
  • A minimum of a High School diploma, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience in event coordinating
  • Ability to stand and walk for multiple hours at a time as well as lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal (phone and in person) - Organized - Detail-oriented - Calm under pressure –
  • Computer skills (Email, Word, and Excel) –
  • Problem Solving Skills – being able to come up with a solution in the moment for the best outcome
