Kingwood's
Mansion
Mr. & Mrs.
King built Kingwood Hall in 1926. It is a 26-room French
Provincial style home designed by architect Clarence Mack.
The mansion is available for viewing at no charge. The dining,
flower, and drawing rooms are set up for year-round display.
Other rooms in the three story mansion are used, as directed
by Mr. King, in the operation of Kingwood Center. The third
floor bedrooms are administrative offices. The library,
reading room, Mr. King's office and the powder room are
all part of the extensive horticultural library. The ground
floor ballroom is now used for public meetings, lectures
and displays, and the foyer contains the reception area
and gift shop.
Christmas is
a favorite time for people to visit Kingwood. After Thanksgiving,
an army of Garden Club volunteers and Kingwood Staff lavishly
decorate the rooms of the Mansion for the Holiday season.
The centerpiece is an exquisitely trimmed 20-foot Christmas
tree that graces the foyer to greet guests as they enter.
