A plant buying excursion
This will be our twenty-third plant buying trip and we are still finding new plant vendors to visit!
This year we have three stops in the Akron area that we have never visited before.
We begin with a return to Boyert's Greenhouse and Farm in Medina, who we last visited in 2013.
Next, it's on to the never-before visited Constantine Nursery & Garden Center in Richfield. They speak of raising 80% of the plants they sell, including 15,000 perennials.
Then comes Donzell's Flower & Garden Center in Akron, one of the largest garden centers in the U.S. and literally a sister store of Gales Westlake Garden Center. One sister owns one and the other sister owns the other.
Lunch will be almost next door to Donzell's at Waterloo restaurant. They will offer us a choice of three meals: Lasagna and salad, Chicken Parmesan and salad, or a large Chopped Salad. They have an in-house bakery which will offer a wide assortment of choices for dessert.
Not far away is our next stop, Dayton Nurseries in Norton, another big, family-run operation offering a full line of garden products and services.
And, our final destination will be with our old friend Quailcrest Farm in its beautiful remote location with its fascinating array of herbs and ornamentals.
